Reaction-controlled compression ignition (RCCI)
In the context of the ExaScale Computing Project, which is funding the development of PeleLMeX, we are demonstrating the code performances on the auto-ignition behavior of a dual-fuel pulse into a representative piston-bowl geometry, at realistic operating conditions. The chamber is initially filled with a mixture of methane and air resulting from a first port injection with recirculation exhaust gases, then injection of a diesel surrogate, n-dodecane, is triggered and the simulation focuses on the ignition at the vicinity of these fuel jets. The simulations are performed at scale using on the most recent DOE's platform using both NVidia and AMD GPUs.
